I’m Irish, therefore I do not celebrate Thanksgiving. However it has always been a day that fascinates me. At the very core of this holiday is acceptance & appreciation for life at this very moment. Thanksgiving encourages reflection on life ,and gratitude for both the big and small moments that got you here from this time last year.
To keep it short (because a longer post will undoubtedly appear before the end of the year!), I am thankful for the opportunities presented to me this year; those I took, and those I didn’t.
I am thankful for my friends, some of whom showed huge amounts of generosity towards me this year for which I cannot show my gratitude enough. They encourage me daily, and make me want to be a better version of myself.
I am thankful for all my travel experiences this year. 2015 has been a great year for adventures and making memories with my favourite people, ultimately bringing us closer together than ever before.
I am thankful for my family who continue to show me unconditional love and support, even though I’m 27 and am supposed to be a fully-fledged and effectively functioning adult by now!
I am thankful for my sister & her fiancé for bringing my gorgeous nephew into this world, and showing me what the unconditional love of an aunt feels like.
I am thankful that my car, Penelope Elizabeth Bennett (yes that is her full name!), broke down when she did and forced me to relocate to Cork much earlier than expected. I regained my social life again, and met many more delightful individuals who I can’t imagine never having in my life.
I am thankful for bad timing, because it paves the way for other, often better, opportunities.
I am forever thankful for coffee. Even though I don’t drink as much of you as before, it doesn’t mean you’re not still my favourite. Just don’t tell green tea that!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers! What are you thankful for today?
