Hello August

The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone. ~Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting

August has always been a favourite month of mine. Throughout my life it has represented the beginning of a new year, a new adventure or a new beginning. I thrive off of the anticipation of new experiences. The start of a new school year, moving country, going on holidays, starting a blog.. I love change. I get restless easily, so it’s no surprise that I’m always on the look out for the next exciting thing. This August is no exception – I’m shaking up my life once more with lots of ideas and activities that will hopefully keep me entertained for a while! But first, to answer the question so many of you have been asking me…

Where have I been over the last four months?

I’ve been to Amsterdam.

I’ve been to the South of France.

I’ve been to Santorini, Greece.

I’ve been to London.

I’ve been to Dublin to visit by brand spanking new nephew.

I’ve been turning another year older (hello late-twenties)!

I’ve been soul searching.

I’ve been soul finding.

I’ve been making memories.

Stay tuned. I’m back, and we have a lot of catching up to do!

P.s Let me know what you’ve been up to over the last four months. What have I missed in your lives? Leave links! I wanna know EVERYTHING!

  1. Sounds like you’ve had a busy last few months! I know what you mean about new beginnings, I always think August/September feels more like new year than actual new year.

    • Hi Dita. I’ve had the most exciting few months! I’m back to the UK in a few weeks for a weekend and then my next stop is Las Vegas in September 🙂 I can’t wait!
Thanks for stopping by – love your post on Rome. I’ve never been to Italy, I must put it on my list! xx
