My Autumn Bucket List

2014-09-23 14.30.21

I love Autumn. I love the way the leaves on the trees slowly shrivel and steadily fade from green to yellow to red. I love layering and getting to wear jumpers and boots. I love going for walks in the frosty air and the sound of leaves crunching underneath me. I’ve never understood the appeal of jumping in piles of leaves though – there could be anything lurking under there!!!! Autumn is the season of golds, browns, and burnt oranges. Autumn is caramel apples, trick-or-treating and the smell of bonfires on a crisp clear night. Autumn is for watching your favourite tv shows and pretending you like Pumpkin Spiced Lattes because it’s boring to just order your regular americano!

Way back on August 31st 2013, I made a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. 389 days later, I have successfully managed to do a whopping 10 things on that list. Time to up my game! I was browsing the internet yesterday, aimlessly as you do, and came across quite a few blogs and vlogs about Autumn or Fall Bucket Lists. Can you see where this is going?!

Autumn officially started yesterday  and lasts until the first day of winter (obvs!) which is December 21st. That means I have a good 12 weeks in order to really step up my game and tick off a few of my goals. So with the help of my little brothers, I have come up with my Autumn Bucket List.

– Carve a pumpkin
– Dress up for Halloween (#56)
– Make apple cider
– Visit the Nightmare Realm in Cork
– Start running again! (in preparation for #12 & #13)
– Toast marshmallows (#28)
– Go for a long walk and collect conkers & pinecones with my brothers
– Read two Jane Austen Novels (#39)
– Go to a panto 🙂
– Buy coffee for a stranger (#59)
– Bake banana bread
– Go vegan for 30 days (#5)
– Make a Youtube video (#11)
–  Create an Autumnal inspired craft

As you can see it includes some of my 101 in 1001 days goals, but also a few fun Autumn favourites too! What’s on your Autumn/Fall Bucket List?

  1. Book Nerd Alert! Haha, might I recommend Jane Austen’s Emma for your one of your two? It’s my absolute favorite of her books. She is well known for her heroines but I love Emma’s spirit the best of all of them! The other that I’d recommend is Northanger Abbey which is one of her lesser known/liked novels. (Which is part of it’s appeal to me.) But of course most fans would call me remiss if I didn’t tell you to read Pride & Prejudice or Sense & Sensibility, her two most famous books. Guess it’s a matter of whether you like going off the beaten path! Enjoy!

    • Awww thank you so much for this 🙂 I have already read Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility before, both of which I love and have based my adoration of Jane Austen on. I also started Northanger Abbey a few years ago but for some reason didn’t continue reading it (not because I didn’t like it, I think time got in the way!) I think I may start with that one!!

    • Thanks Kloe! I’m thinking of signing up for a 10K (or maybe a 5K…..!!) just before Christmas so I have something to work towards. All I need now is some motivation and I’m ready to go 🙂

    • Have you been before? I’ve been meaning to go for the last couple of years but something always comes up!! I love seeing the scared pictures on facbeook.. looks like fun!!

  2. My only goal for autumn this year is to get out long enough to try to get a photo of the Nieuwegracht with the fallen leaves. I’ve got green spring photos of it and white snowy winter photos, but I always seem to miss autumn.

    • That’s a great autumn goal 🙂 The Nieuwegracht is beautiful at any time of the year, but especially Autumn. I love cycling or walking through de Wilheminapark during Autumn too – it’s pretty during the summer and winter, but there is just something about it framed with the fallen leaves!

Leave a Reply, I'd love to hear from you :)
