After writing all of these ominous blogs about making changes and doing things that make you happy, I am delighted to announce I have finally made a huge life decision. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll already know, but here it goes: I am moving! And not just moving city, as you can see from the title and terrible quality photo above, I am packing up my life and leaving this little island I call home to set myself up in another country. If you squint (and tilt your head 36 degrees exactly while shaking it from side to side!!) you can see the city I’m moving to printed on the shot glass I’m holding….
On Friday September 5th at 5.15am, I will be boarding a plane to Amsterdam, with no return ticket to Ireland. Eeeeeeeek! The thought of it all is exciting yet absolutely terrifying.
Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while now will know that I lived in the Netherlands from September to December 2013. Those who have just joined my adventures (WELCOME! HELLO! HEY!) and want to catch up and do your research, I have my Dutch (and Parisian) adventures all right here for you! It will come as no surprise to most people that I am moving back. It was never a matter of if I return to the Netherlands, it was always when I go back!
While I have lived in different countries before, it was only ever for a fixed period of time. I always knew when I would be returning to normality (as I know it). This time my Dutch adventure has no expiration date.
Do I have a place to live in Amsterdam? Nope! Do I have a job? Not yet! Do I have anything planned about the move yet? Not at all. But these are all minor details, people! What I do know is that my one-way plane ticket is booked; I’m ready for change; I’m ready for excitement; I’m ready for a new environment and I’m looking forward to my next adventure.
Who’s coming with me?!
