Inspired by Carrie, Chloe and Annie’s recent posts, I feel compelled to follow suit. It’s good to know that it’s not just me who is fascinated by the contents of other lady’s handbags. I envy the women who can carry just the essentials and not have to lug around everything but the kitchen sink. If somebody needs something, 85% of the time, I will have that item in my handbag – mascara, straws and pliers are some of the recent things I have helpfully produced from my bag! I’m a modern day Mary Poppins! Last week, I switched daily bags and doing so, I did a big clear out, so there shouldn’t be anything too strange in there today…
This is my current bag and I love it ❤ I bought it in January as I wanted a new versatile handbag that could be paired with pretty much anything. This cream and black beauty just screamed out BUY ME! It’s the Louise Textured Work Bag from Accessorize. The great thing about this bag is that not only does it hold a lot (but not too much, it’s also sturdy without being bulky. I only discovered today that there is a padded pocket on the front where I can put my iPad or Macbook without the fear of anything spilling/scratching it. It comes with an a cross body strap which I’ve never used, but I can definitely see the practicality of this. The cream and black colouring coupled with the woven detailing on the front gives it a classic and chic feel, and it looks way more expensive that it actually is at €55/£47. J’adore! So let’s jump right into the contents of my bag..
An umbrella. This one is black with white polka dots and has a cute bow clasp. Penney’s (aka Primark), €2! It rains a lot in Ireland, so a brolly is must unless you want to show up to your destination looking like a drowned rat!
Three Maybelline Baby Lips and two Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipsticks. Because you can never have too many lip products on hand at any one time! I have a slight obsession with Baby Lips at the mo – anything that moisturises your lips while adding a hint of colour gets a thumbs up from me.
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Sheeply Opal. This came as part of a French Manicure set, but I use it on it’s own as I like the sheer pink on my nails. It tends to chip pretty easily though, hence why I keep it close by at all times.
Pretty butterfly tissues. In case I get a sneezing fit or need to wipe up a spillage as I am highly accident prone! A girl’s gotta look cute while blowing her nose!
A container with almonds, cranberries and dates. I always keep almonds and dried fruit to hand in case of a sugar craving. They stop me from reaching for a chocolate bar. Most of the time.
A banana. I was supposed to eat this as a snack at work the other day, but I go to go home early. So I’m eating it now… meaning it’s no longer in my bag… nom nom nom.
Tea bags! More specifically Pukka Tea. Even more specifically Night Time Tea, Three Mint Tea and Vanilla Chai Tea. Pukka is my all time favourite brand of tea. I am just the teeniest bit obsessed. I’m currently visiting my parents for the weekend and didn’t know what tea they had, so I brought my own 🙂
An old pay slip. Why this is still in my bag I do not know. It’s not even my latest one!
Benefit’s BadGal Waterproof Eyepencil. Unsure why this is in there too. I rarely use a pencil eyeliner! It’s always handy to have as it can transform your makeup from day to night. I love the applicator at the end, or ‘smudger’ as I like to call it. Instant smokey eye!
Three Pens. Writing instruments are so important. It’s nice to see only three in my bag for once. Usually there are at least eight and they range from regular black biros to sharpies to pink highlighters.
Thirteen Blonde Bobby Pins and a Black Bobbin. Because you never know when you need to do/fix your hair. Question: what do you call hair ties? When I lived in Limerick, they called them ‘go-gos’ which I still find absolutely bizarre. In Cork, the majority of people call them bobbles but I call them bobbins, which I think could be a Dublin thing. Isn’t it strange how one thing can have so many different names?!
A Flip-Flop shaped keyring from Australia. I got this from one of my best friends when she came home after traveling around Oz. No, I don’t know why I haven’t put it on my keys yet either. Fun fact: Australian’s call flip-flops thongs! Hehehe.. immature? Who, me?!
Receipts! Receipts for coffee to be exact, and all from Butler’s Chocolate Cafe (Dublin & Cork 🙂 ) I’m trying to cut down on my takeaway coffee consumption, so only finding three receipts isn’t too bad. I’m avoiding the fact that there are probably a lot more stuffed into my wallet..
Glasses: I don’t need to wear glasses all the time, just when I’m driving, working at a computer for hours or simply when my eyes are tired. It’s always a good thing to be able to see!
Passport: Probably shouldn’t have this in my bag, but I’m always hoping to spontaenously go to the airport and hop on the very next flight that is departing. The cover was a free gift from Benefit. And yes, I do love San Francisco. I’m hopefully going to visit again within the next 5 years!
Keys. With my very important Tesco Clubcard. I’m all about special offers and discounts on my groceries!
Wallet. I do love my Michael Kors wallet. There are a select few essential items that I will splurge and only buy ‘designer’. Wallets are one of them.
So there you have it. The not-so-weird and wonderful contents of my handbag. Do you keep anything strange in your handbag?
Until the next time,
