I have a confession to make. I’m not proud of what I’ve done, but I can’t keep it to myself any longer. You have to understand that I’m weak and the pull was too strong. I should have listened to everyone but I’m afraid that now I’m in too deep. Don’t judge me but… I listened to Christmas music today. On purpose! It’s all the Netherlands’ fault. This country starts celebrating the festive season way earlier than what I am used to. The lights, the decorations, the cute little chocolates, it’s all too much. Sinterklaas was even on campus today with his film crew following him around. Although I’m not sure why he was asking students to type numbers into his phone… Even though the Dutch are getting ready for Pakjesavond and not necessarily Christmas, the general festive atmosphere is enough to get Scrooge singing Jingle Bells!!
To top it off, I submitted my completed thesis this afternoon (YAY!) and now feel as if I am finished college even though I have another couple of presentations and assignments to do over the next 23 days! I’ve been googling Christmas markets while singing along to Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra all evening. I am SO excited about having time off this Christmas, not having to work constantly, getting to spend time with my family and having a full house Christmas day. And best of all, my sister is coming home from Australia for a few weeks!!!! So rather than ignore my jolly mood, I thought why not embrace it. I’m going to curl up in bed and watch my first Christmas movie this year, my absolute favourite, Miracle on 34th Street. It never fails to make me smile, and the little girl in it reminds me of my not-so-little sister when she was a kid!
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
