Sunday is my favourite day of the week. It’s the one day that I do not feel guilty sleeping in late, staying in my pjs all day or I am a firm believer in Sunday as a day of rest. Having said that, all I seem to do every Sunday is catch up on everything that I didn’t do during the week meaning that college work, laundry, grocery shopping and housework always cut into my valuable day of relaxation. I was so busy catching up that I never got to have a coffee today!! When I lived in France, nothing was open on a Sunday. Nothing is so urgent that it cannot wait until Monday. And while it was sometimes annoying when you suddenly ran out of milk, it has to be said, the French have Sunday sussed.
Sunday is when you have pancakes AND eggs benedict for breakfast. It’s for reading the paper and drink hundreds of cups of tea. It’s a day for wrapping up warm and going for a long walk in the park. Sunday is a time for brunch with friends; a day for watching the Food Network for hours on end. Sunday is for not doing all the things you promised yourself you would. It’s for eating all the chocolates in the box because your diet starts on Monday. Sunday is for no makeup, duvets and bubble baths!
So I’m going to listen to my instincts and end my Sunday the way I should have started it, by drinking tea, watching a movie and not worry about the mountain of things I could have got done.
What does your ideal Sunday look like?
